DANVILLE – Higher Ground Auto Sales is celebrating its 20th anniversary this spring with special discounts as the local business approaches its 1,000th sale.
Owner R.D. “Bob” Hottle said it’s a way of thanking the community for its support over the past two decades, since opening in 1995.
“This is our 20th year and we sell an average of 50 vehicles a year, so we’re right around that 1,000th sale,” Mr. Hottle told The Highland County Press this week.
“We certainly thank all of our customers through the years.”
Mr. Hottle is a veteran, a retired schoolteacher, farmer and pastor of the Anchor Baptist Church. He said he started the auto sales business to supplement the family income years ago.
While the Higher Ground used-car inventory varies from month to month, the business is known for its mini-van and pickup truck selection.
“The vans and trucks make up most of our sales,” Mr. Hottle said. “We see a lot of families who are looking for mini-vans.”
The business is located at 6159 S.R. 138 west, just a few miles from Hillsboro.
