HCSO responds to reported assault, stabbing in Whiteoak Township

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that on July 27 at approximately 1:36 a.m., the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an off-duty Mowrystown Police Officer who advised that a 32-year-male had been assaulted and stabbed. The male subject was being transported to Highland District Hospital by a private vehicle.
Sheriff Barrera further reports that deputies and a detective went to Highland District Hospital to meet with the victim, who advised that the incident happened on Fenwick Road in Whiteoak Township.
According to Sheriff Barrera, the victim advised that while at his home, he had heard a car door and went outside. The victim said he was approached by a male subject, who advised that his vehicle was broken down and that he needed help getting his vehicle off of the road.
The victim stated that he went to help the male and was then approached by a second male. He advised that he was then struck in the head and that one male started stabbing him. He made it back to his house and was then transported to Highland District Hospital.
The incident remains under investigation.
