The Highland County Sheriff's Office was called to the 5000 block of Sorg Road at approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 for a reported stabbing.

A woman was reportedly stabbed in her left eye and had additional injuries.

Southern Highland Joint Fire and EMS District was dispatched.

Emergency medical helicopters were requested, but unable to fly due to weather conditions, according to the dispatch.

The suspect, who was identified by the victim as Jeffrey L. Armstrong, 46, had fled the scene on foot before deputies' arrival on the scene. He was last seen on foot at the south dead end of Point Liberty Road in southern New Market Township.

The suspect was wearing black shorts, a blue T-shirt and no shoes. He was last seen carrying a black overnight bag.

A perimeter has been set up by deputies and they are currently searching for Armstrong at the present time. A canine has been called to assist in the search. If you see anyone suspicious in this area call 911 immediately. Armstrong is from the Cincinnati area and law enforcement believe he is seeking a way to flee the area.
