HCSO, BCI find more than 1,000 marijuana plants in county

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that on July 31 Highland County sheriff's detectives and deputies, along with Ohio BCI&I agents, were flying and looking for marijuana.
This time of the year is the beginning of the season for air surveillance, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff Barrera advises that it was a good day, taking approximately 1,000 plants or more, with the use of BCI&I's helicopter. The use of the BCI&I's helicopter is free of charge to the county, the sheriff said.
Also during the process, according to Sheriff Barrera, the Sheriff's Office conducted two search warrants on a residence in Liberty Township and another in Fairfield Township, where various items were discovered believed to be used for growing operations.
The cases are currently under investigation, with further charges pending.
The Crime Tip Hotline number for the Highland County Sheriff's Office is 937.840.6243.
