HCFFA to host 19th annual Public Safety Day

The Highland County Firefighters Association will be hosting its 19th annual Public Safety Day, Sunday, June 7.
It will be held at the Hillsboro Kroger store, 575 Harry Sauner Road, from noon to 2:30 p.m.
All-day events include: firetrucks, life squads, police vehicles and medical helicopters on display and a fire hose for kids to spray water. There will also be a safety trailer that will teach youths how to stay low in smoke and escape their home in case of a fire.
Other events include: UC Air Care & Miami Valley Careflight at noon; live fire demonstration at 1 p.m.; distracted driving presentation at 1:15 p.m.; and auto extrication with patient removal at 1:45 p.m.
Demonstrations are subject to change, and the helicopter arrival may change due to possible emergencies.
Pokeys DJ and Karaoke Service will provide music. There will also be snacks available throughout the day.

The event is free to the public.
"We hope this will be a fun and educational day for everyone,” HCFFA training coordinator Scott Miller said. “A big thank-you to Hillsboro Kroger staff for supporting this event, which has been held at Kroger for last 17 years."
Other upcoming events for the HCFFA include: The 12th annual Kroger Klassic Car Show will be on July 25. There will also be a dunking booth at the Leesburg Festival on June 19 (evening) and all day Saturday.
Departments in the HCFFA include: Paint Creek, Highland County North, Lynchburg, Southern Highland, Brush Creek Township Fire Dept., Marshall Township Fire Dept., Bainbridge Fire Department, Brush Creek Life Squad, Clinton Highland, Fayetteville and Peebles Fire Department.
