Hillsboro Mayor Drew Hastings swore in two Hillsboro police officers on Tuesday after they received promotions in the Hillsboro Police Department.

Jeff Murphy has been with the Hillsboro Police Department for 22 years, and was promoted to sergeant. Shawn Kelley, who had worked as communications officer for four years, was moved up to fill the spot left by Murphy.

"We are very proud to have Sgt. Murphy moving up to sergeant," said Hillsboro Safety and Service Director Rick Giroux. "I certainly believe the promotion is well-deserved after 22 years of faithfully serving the city. We know that Officer Kelley will do a wonderful job. We know they will do their best to serve the residents of Hillsboro."
