Happy Father's Day

To all the "Dads" out there on this third Sunday of June 2010, we send our warmest regards for a very Happy Father's Day. The first Father's Day observance in the United States is believed to have occurred 100 years ago in the state of Washington. Though various efforts failed to mark this as a national holiday, in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Six years later, the day was made a permanent national holiday when President Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972. Today, we hope fathers everywhere will have an enjoyable day with family. For those who are unable to see their family today, especially for those serving in the United States Armed Forces, we hope you do receive a card, a telephone call or an e-mail message of appreciation.
