Greenfield Rotary offering chili supper Friday; event at McClain High School before basketball contests against Hillsboro

The Greenfield Rotary Club is putting on a chili and hot dog supper on Jan. 16 at McClain High School; and along with that, will come a little friendly competition between the Greenfield and Hillsboro Rotary clubs as their respective schools battle on the courts. 

The supper begins at 4 p.m. and runs through to 7 p.m. in the McClain cafeteria. The menu options are: chili with all the fixings, a hot dog, chips, drink and a cookie for $8; two hot dogs, chips, drink and a cookie for $8; or one hot dog, chips, drink and a cookie for $5. 

Of the three basketball games taking place in the high school gym that evening, whichever Rotary Club’s school wins the most of those games, the president of that club gets to put a pie in the face of the other — in this case that would be Greenfield Rotary Club President Quincey Gray and Hillsboro Rotary Club President Doug Karnes. One of them will get a pie in the face by the other following the varsity match. 

The two Rotary clubs have supported their respective communities, and the global community through Rotary, for more than a century each. 

The Greenfield club meets each Thursday for breakfast at the Black Diamond in downtown Greenfield.
