Greenfield Historical Society announces its Wheels of Progress events

The Greenfield Historical Society will be holdings several activities during the upcoming Wheels of Progress Festival. On Saturday, July 17, the Old Stone Schoolhouse on South Street will be open at 8:30 a.m. for a breakfast of pastries and sausage patties, then for a lunch of brats and hot dogs.
In addition, a display about the Patterson family will be open to the public. At 12:30 p.m., the Rev. Ricardo and Vonya Lewis will reprise their roles as Frederick Douglass Patterson and Kathleen Wilson Patterson. The performance will be a shortened version of the Spring Tea program. Admission to the program will be three dollars and will include a cold drink.
On Sunday, July 18, the annual Ice Cream Social will be held in the Grain and Hay Building at the corner of Jefferson Street and McArthur Way. The menu will include sandwiches, drinks, pie and ice cream. The meal will be from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Visitors can stop by after church, get a good meal and then get back up town in time for the parade.
On both days, visitors can join the Historical Society for food, education, entertainment and air conditioning.
