Greenfield awarded half a million in grant dollars for plant improvements

Greenfield has been awarded $500,000 in funds from the Ohio Department of Development to be utilized in wastewater treatment plan upgrades.
"The investments made today will ensure a safe and sanitary living environment for these communities," said William J. Graves, Director of the Department's Community Development Division. "Proper infrastructure is the foundation for economic growth and the health of Ohio's communities."
According to the ODOD, the plant upgrades were necessary "to handle increased sewage flows and meet Ohio Environmental Protection Agency requirements. The more than $2.8 million project will benefit 1,862 households."
Phase one of the project has not yet been completed.
In February, Greenfield received approval for a permit to install for Phase II of the wastewater treatment plant project.
Two other communities were awarded funds as well:
• Miami County will receive $600,000 to install 4,230 linear feet of sanitary sewers and seven grinder pumps in Concord Township. The more than $1.2 million project will benefit 59 households.
• Village of Paulding (Paulding County) will receive $136,000 to install a flow control chamber at the wastewater treatment plant to address overflow problems and solar-powered water circulators to improve pH levels. The more than $540,000 project will benefit 1,587 households.
