The Greenfield Police Department is reporting that on Friday, July 27 at 4:06 p.m., John Johnson, 82, of Dayton, was traveling northbound on North Fourth Street in Greenfield and failed to stop for the stop sign at North Street.

In doing so, he drove into the path of an eastbound vehicle being driven by Shallana Worthen, 31, of Greenfield.

The vehicles collided, causing disabling damage to each.

Johson suffered serious injuries and Worthen received minor visible injuries.

An 11-year-old passenger in Worthen's vehicle was not injured. Johnson and Worthen were transported to Adena Greenfield Medical Center by Paint Creek EMS, where Johnson remains in critical condition.

Arrangements were being made to transport Johnson to OSU Medical Center in Columbus by ground transport because his condition is too unstable for him to be taken by helicopter, according to Greenfield Police Chief Tim Hester.
