Governor-elect Kasich nominates Jerry Wray to be director of the Ohio
Department of Transportation
Ohio Governor-elect John Kasich has nominated Jerry Wray to be director of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). 
Wray is a nationally recognized transportation expert. 
  From 1991-99, Wray served as director of ODOT under Governors Taft and Voinovich, and was instrumental in helping the Department become leaner and more efficient, saving future payrolls more than $50 million annually. 
According to a news release from Kasich, under Director Wray’s leadership, ODOT increased its construction program by $300 million from its output in the 1980’s while simultaneously reducing its operating costs by $200 million and its workforce by 1,800 employees. 
Kasich announced the nomination at a press conference in Wray’s hometown of Newark, in Licking County.  
Wray is the fifth agency director nominated by Kasich since being elected governor on Nov. 2.
