Frederick stationed at Fort Leonard Wood

Andrew Frederick, a recent graduate from Portsmouth West High School in Scioto County, arrived at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri on June 30 for Army One Station Unit Training with the Military Police Corps.

He spent 20 weeks there, becoming a soldier, and then a trained Military Police soldier.

Frederick qualified with the M4 rifle, and 9 mm handgun, drove HumVs, patrolled base, and reported to calls. He graduated on Nov. 20 with 192 other soldiers.

In January 2015, he will be going to Ohio University to major in criminal justice. He plans to join the Ohio State Highway Patrol after graduation.

He is the son of Connie DiMario of Blanchester and William Frederick of Portsmouth.

Fort Leonard Wood is a United States Army installation located in the Missouri Ozarks. The main gate is located on the southern boundary of St. Robert. The post was created in December 1940 and named in honor of General Leonard Wood in January 1941.
