Four compete to be crowned junior fair queen

Four young ladies from across Highland County will compete Saturday to become the 2010 Highland County Junior Fair Queen. 

Daisy Christophel , of Lynchburg, Kelly Mustard, of Hillsboro; Lisa Rhonemus, of Lynchburg; and Tiffany Satterfield, of Hillsboro, will each compete for the crown.

The contest will begin at 11 a.m. in the multi-purpose building on the fair grounds. Judging will be based on four criteria, each worth 25 percent: achievement and review of application, personal interview, personal appearance and poise and a five-minute oral presentation on a selected fair theme. 

Christophel is the daughter of Jerry and Marcy Christophel, and she attends Lynchburg-Clay High School. She will be representing the Lynchburg FFA Chapter. She has held many offices in FFA, and was the Voice of Democracy speech winner. Her hobbies include showing beef and sports. 

Mustard is the daughter of Robin Mustartd, and she attended McClain High School. She is representing the McClain FFA Chapter. Mustard has earned her state FFA degree, and serves as president of the McClain FFA. Her hobbies include cooking, playing piano, swimming and shopping. 

Rhonemus is the daughter of Neil and Diane Rhonemus, and she attended Lynchburg-Clay High School. She is representing the Highland County Junior Leaders Club. She has won many awards for her 4-H projects, and serves on the Highland County Junior Fair Board, Junior Leaders Club and Family and Consumer Sciences Board. Her hobbies are soccer, basketball, track and camping. 

Satterfield is the daughter of Twila and David Satterfield of Hillsboro. She attended Hillsboro High School. Satterfield is representing the Lucky Green 4-H Club. She has earned numerous awards in the areas of nutrition and textiles. She serves as a junior leader and is on the Family and Consumer Sciences Board. She is looking forward to college this fall. Her hobbies include cooking and sewing.
