The Wilmington area will be losing more jobs, according to a report in the Dayton Business Journal.

Fortis Plastics LLC will close its Wilmington facility and lay off 119 workers, the Journal reported.

The company said the closing will occur by the second week of April, according to a filing with with state of Ohio.

Fortis submitted a Jan. 24 WARN (Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification) notice to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In the letter, Fortis said it would close between March 30 and April 13, 2012.

"The news comes on the heels of a tough economic period for Wilmington. The city (and surrounding area) lost about 8,000 jobs after shipping giant DHL in 2008 decided to close its freight hub at the Wilmington Air Park," the report said.

According to their website, Fortis is a large, regional supplier with locations throughout North America that builds partnerships with our customers by providing total product solutions including in house capabilities for Resin Compounding, Tooling Construction, Plastic Processing and Full Service Value Add Operations.

Fortis Plastics was formed in late 2008 from the combination of Leggett & Platt Plastics Group and the Atlantis Plastics businesses by Monomoy Capital Partners LP.[[In-content Ad]]
