Former Ohio prison director Terry Collins dies at 63

Former Ohio prison director Terry Collins passed away Thursday, March 17.

He had turned 63 years old on March 15.

Mr. Collins was the director of the Ohio prison system for more than three years before retiring on Feb. 1, 2010.

He career in corrections began in 1977 at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. He served as warden at Lorain Correctional Institution, Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, and Ross Correctional Institution.

His wife, Linda (Shaffer) Collins, survives.

Funeral arrangements will be will be under the direction of Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
