Fire destroys Washington Township barn

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District, Station 23 was dispatched to a barn fire at 3238 S.R. 73 at approximately 9:05 p.m. Friday, July 31.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the barn to be fully engulfed in flames, with another barn in near proximity, which appeared to be undamaged.  

Mutual aid was received from Locust Grove, Peebles, Marshall, Southern Highland Joint Fire District, Lynchburg Fire and EMS District and Brushcreek fire department to assist with manpower and for additional water.

During firefighting operations, one firefighter was reportedly injured and was taken to Highland District Hospital. He was treated and released.

Firefighters remained on the scene until the fire was extinguished and the scene secured.
