Fatal shooting under investigation

A fatal shooting is under investigation in Marshall Township.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, Hillsboro Fire and Rescue and the Highland County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Garch Road.

According to Sheriff Ron Ward, the preliminary investigation "appears to indicate this was a self-inflicted gunshot wound."

Ward said the victim's body would be transported to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office for an autopsy.

The incident is under the investigation of the Highland County Sheriff's Office and Highland County Coroner Dr. Paul Terrell. No charges have been filed.[[In-content Ad]]
