Members of the Highland County Township Association, the Southern Highland Joint Fire District, and the Jeff and Lydia Duncan Family presented 17 new benches for patrons of the Highland County Fair to the Highland County Senior Fair Board on Saturday, July 16.

“Come find your bench,” said Fred Yochum, vice president of the township association, who organized the project.

Modeling after a similar project in Brown County, the Highland County Township Association voted in November 2015 to approve a joint effort by the individual townships to provide some new benches at the fairground facilities. Each individual township then decided whether or not to participate and donate the cost of a bench, constructed in Hamersville, compliments of the township. The joint fire district, based in White Oak and Concord townships, and the Duncan family also joined in the effort.
