The 2014 Friends of 4-H recipients were awarded on April 20 during the awards portion of the Member, Officer & Advisor Conference held at Hillsboro High School.

The first friend of 4-H is Ed Bayless a well-known gentlemen in the Highland County community.

Many different individuals commented on how he has worked with the community and especially 4-H. He puts in extra hours to make sure we received what was needed.

While Ed was at Community Markets in Hillsboro, I had the opportunity to work with him on various events with the 4-H program. He was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that the youth of Highland County were always put first.

He would make sure that he gave us the best prices available on products to make a profit for the food booth to be used by the youth of the county as he was aware that the funds were used to give scholarships, pay for camp and other youth activities enjoyed by our community.

He has always been an exceptional person to work and he is truly a “Friend of 4-H” according to Bertha Hamilton.
