On Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, William D. McBride III, age 23, of Adams County, was arrested for selling pills in the parking lot of his employment. The charge of Trafficking in Drugs was the result of an internal investigation conducted by Candle-Lite, located in Leesburg, into allegations of employees selling illegal narcotics on the grounds. The Highland County Sheriff's Office was contacted and detectives from the Sheriff's Office, along with the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Taskforce initiated an investigation. During the early morning hours of Nov. 4, 2009, an undercover purchase of what was presented to be a controlled substance was made from William D. McBride III in the parking lot of Candle-Lite. McBride was then taken into custody without incident after the sale was made. McBride was found to be employed at Candle-Lite through a temporary service. McBride is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Hillsboro Municipal Court before the Honorable Judge David McKenna on Thursday, November 5, 2009. The case will be forwarded to the Highland County Prosecutor's Office for presentation to an upcoming session of the Highland County Grand Jury. [[In-content Ad]]
