Dr. Julie Karnes honored by United States Air Force Reserve

Dr. Julie Karnes was recognized by James "JJ" Jackson, Lieutenant General, Commander United States Air Force Reserve, at the Employer Recognition Award Ceremony.
There are 70,000 Air Force reservists, and two dozen employers were recognized at this year's event, including executives from Delta Airlines, Atlas Air, Lockheed Marietta and Starbucks Coffee.
Dr. Karnes is a family practitioner from Highland County and owner of Rocky Fork Family Practice.
Dr. Karnes was uniquely recognized not as an employer, but as a physician who, for over a decade, has provided excellent patient coverage so that fellow Hillsboro doctor Jeffrey Beery could serve in the Reserve.

The event included a rousing award ceremony at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, Ga., where each recipient was personally honored by General Jackson; a tour of a C-130 airplane; and bomb disposal robot demonstrations. There was also a tour of the Lockheed plant and lunch in a field kitchen.
Dr. Karnes was given a chance to fly a C-130 simulator, and despite claiming no past flying experience was able to land the C-130 perfectly.
Recipients were then given a chance to see the Aeromedical Evacuation training center, and the day was capped off with an evening reception with General Jackson.
