Down Syndrome Association to hold Aug. 16 picnic at Rocky Fork Lake
Any person with a disability, along with their family, is welcome to come to the picnic, regardless of type of disability, race, gender or location of residence.
There will be a pig and chicken roast, along with side dishes. Music, cornhole, frisbee golf, fishing, swimming, kids' activities and other recreation will be offered. Acoustic music will be provided by Won Peace.[[In-content Ad]]
The goal of the picnic is to spread awareness to the Brown, Adams, Clinton and Highland communities that there is support, education and information available to them.
Highland County Commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer signed a proclamation for the annual event at their Wednesday, Aug. 6 board meeting.
The proclamation was presented to Kim O'Madden and her three children.
Volunteers who would like to help with the event or to contribute food, drinks or donations of any kind to this picnic are welcomed. Letting others know about this picnic is also appreciated. The DSAGC is a 501C-3 nonprofit organization established in 1981 with a history of responding to the changing needs of individuals with Down syndrome. The DSAGC serves southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana.
The organization's constituency is composed of 1,300 individuals with Down syndrome of all ages, 3,000 family members and over 300 local professionals. By providing families with support, inspiration and information, the DSAGC helps individuals with Down syndrome achieve their maximum potential.
