Democratic picnic Aug. 5 features Ted and Frances Strickland

The Highland County Democratic Party will hold its annual picnic on Sunday, Aug. 5 at the AmVets Park on North Shore Drive in Hillsboro from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The event is free to the public, with a freewill donation accepted.

The featured speakers will be former Governor and First Lady Ted and Frances Strickland and Liz Brown, the daughter of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown.

Local candidates will be in attendance: Peter Pence for 91st state representative; Gary Heaton for county treasurer; Brenda Losey for county commissioner; Randy Mustard for county commissioner; and Larry Burns for county recorder.

The menu will include hamburgers (from Hunter's Meats), hot dogs, potato salad, chips, baked beans, desserts and drinks. The public is cordially invited to attend. An auction will be conducted by auctioneer Frank Grover.

Door prizes will be awarded at the end of the evening.
