Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ed FitzGerald plans July 12 stop in Wilmington

On Saturday, July 12, Ohio's Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ed FitzGerald will kick off his hometown tour with four stops across the state. One of those stops will be in Wilmington.
On the tour, FitzGerald will meet with firefighters, teachers, police, and other public employees and Ohioans hurt by Governor Kasich's drastic fifty percent cut to the Local Government Fund.
The tour will kick-off at an event hosted by the International Association of Fire Fighters in Cincinnati.
On a trip to Cincinnati in late May, Governor Kasich "scoffed" at the suggestion his cuts were hurting local communities, saying, "I've not heard of any places here where, my goodness, we couldn't put a fire out."
Due to Kasich's cuts, local governments across the state have been forced to lay-off teachers, firefighters, police and increase local levies.
A recent report showed that local taxes have gone up on average 34 percent since Kasich took office, according to a news release from the candidate.
