Crash claims life of 12-year-old boy

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wilmington Post, is currently investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Clinton County on state route 350 at Farmers Road in Washington Township. The crash occurred Aug. 10 at approximately 9:40 a.m.
A 2000 Buick Century, driven by Joyce A. McKibben, 70, of New Vienna, was traveling south on Farmers Road. A 2010 Chrysler Town & Country, driven by Ricky L. Merrell, 36, of Englewood, was eastbound on state route 350. McKibben failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by Merrell's vehicle. After the initial impact, Merrell's vehicle traveled onto Farmer's Road, south of the intersection, and struck a 2000 Toyota Solara driven by James E. Geisler, 57, of Hillsboro.
McKibben was transported to Miami Valley Hospital from the scene via Care Flight. Her front seat passenger, a 12-year-old Leesburg boy, was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital by Wilmington Life Squad. He was pronounced deceased after his arrival at the hospital.
Merrell was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital by Clinton-Highland Joint Fire Department. He was treated and released. Geisler was not injured in the crash.
This crash remains under investigation.
