County sees first snowfall of 2016

Highland County witnessed its first snowfall of the new year early Monday morning as up to a half an inch of snow fell in some areas.

Heavy snow was falling south of Hillsboro before 6 a.m., with temperatures hovering around 27 degrees.

Periods of snow showers are likely this morning and should be out of the region by early afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

Today's high will be near 31, with a low tonight around 12 degrees.

Tuesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 29 and a low around 19.

Wednesday – Sunny, with a high near 41. South wind 5 to 7 mph.

Wednesday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Thursday – Partly sunny, with a high near 46.

Thursday Night – A chance of rain after 4 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 36. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday – Rain likely, mainly between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 49. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
