County commissioners hold 2026 organizational meeting; Britton voted board chair

Highland County Commissioners Terry Britton, David Daniels and Brad Roades held their 2026 organizational meeting Monday, Jan. 5 in the Highland County Administration Building.

After a motion by Roades and a second by Daniels, the board voted, 3-0, for Britton as board chairman and Daniels as vice chairman.

Commissioners also passed the following resolutions, all by 3-0 votes.

• Resolution No. 26-01: Commissioners designated Britton as the County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO) official representative and Daniels as the alternate.

• Resolution No. 26-02: Commissioners appointed the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) complaint procedure committee.

• Resolution No. 26-03: Commissioners established 2026 meeting days, which will remain the same as in 2025 with 9 a.m. Wednesday being the standard meeting time.

• Resolution No. 26-04: Commissioners designated board members for the year 2026.

• Resolution No. 26-05: Commissioners rehired county employees.

• Resolution No. 26-06: Commissioners established rules for public comment for their meetings, which were adopted from the 2025 rules without changes.

• Resolution No. 26-07: Commissioners approved travel for commissioners to meetings.

Commissioners' next meeting will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 in the Highland County Administration Building.
