Community enjoys Greenfield Historical Society's annual Ghost Walk

GREENFIELD – A large crowd turned out for the Greenfield Historical Society's annual Ghost Walk on Monday, Oct. 12, as the Old Burying Ground came alive with the story of early residents of Greenfield. 
 
The story of Robert and Sarah Douglas Adams was told by Danny and Susan Long. 

Robert shared the story of his father, Halbert, who was killed in the Battle of Crooked Billet during the American Revolution.

This year’s walk covered a large part of the burying ground outside Travellers Rest. 

Guests also were able to see the before-and-after photos of the work of volunteers cleaning the old tombstones. 

Other scheduled portrayals included Kim McGuire-Haines as Hannah Tuthill; Teena Thornton as Druscilla Blackburn; Wes Haines as Levi Jennings; and the story of Ezra Lucas and his family was told by Terry Washburn. Lucas was a member of a long line of Lucases that began in Massachusetts in the early 1600s. One of Ezra’s ancestors was on George Washington’s staff during the American Revolution.
