Colony to host veterans tribute performance

The Colony Theatre will host a tribute to the Highland County Veteran’s on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. The tribute will feature performances by the Hillsboro High School Symphonic Choir, Southern State Community Band and The 100th Army Band from Fort Knox, Ky.
The 100th Army Band meets for one weekend every month at the Glen Miller Amphitheater, Fort Knox KY, to rehearse and perform. 
In recent years,  performance requests have taken the bands various ensembles across Kentucky, and into other states including Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Florida, South Carolina, Kansas, Alabama, Georgia and Hawaii.
The 100th Army Band was constituted in 1943 as “The Band; 100th Infantry Division,” and has served the state of Kentucky and the Nation for nearly 70 years.
Local veterans will have military memorabilia on display in the lobby before and after the performances.  There will be an on screen multi-media presentation in honor of Highland County Veterans before the performances.
Door will open at 6:30 p.m. and the performances will begin at 7 p.m. The Veteran’s Tribute Performances are free and open to the public.
The event is sponsored by Merchants National Bank.
