Coburn pleads guilty to charges stemming from New Year's stabbing incident

A Hillsboro man who was charged with assault stemming from an alleged triple stabbing on New Year's Day has pleaded guilty.
On Jan. 5, James Coburn, 55, of Hillsboro, was taken into custody at his residence on Millers Chapel Road, according to the Hillsboro Police Department.
He was charged with three counts of felonious assault stemming from an incident in the early morning hours of New Year's Day. Deputies with the Highland County Sheriff's Office initially responded. HPD officers were able to respond a short time later with additional manpower being called in from off-duty personnel.
Upon investigation, it was determined that three persons had been stabbed. The three persons stabbed were Justin W. Faulkner, 26, of Sabina; Tammy R. Carver, 44, of Hillsboro; and Michael S. Fenner, 21, of Hillsboro. Coburn was also injured in the incident. Faulkner, Carver, and Coburn were transported to the Highland District Hospital by the Hillsboro Fire and Rescue. Fenner declined immediate treatment. Charges are pending.
This incident is still under investigation by the Hillsboro Police Department.
On Jan. 13, Coburn appeared before Judge David McKenna, with his attorney William Armintrout, where he pleaded guilty to three charges of assault, misdemeanor's of the first degree.
Coburn was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 60 of which were suspended; a fine of $500, $250 of which were suspended; two years of reporting probation, forfeit all weapons, and stay away from each of the victims.
