Charge pending following drug overdose
Charges are pending against two Hillsboro men following an alleged drug overdose.
According to the Hillsboro Police Department, a call was received Monday at approximately 11:03 p.m. reporting "a man down in the parking lot of the Hillsboro Center," located in the 1000 block of North High Street, and indicated a subject had overdosed.
When the HPD officer arrived an RN from Highland District Hospital and a paramedic with Hillsboro Fire and Rescue were performing CPR on a male subject who was laying next to a vehicle.
"The subject was revived and transported to Highland District Hospital by the Hillsboro squad," according to the HPD. "Various drug abuse instruments were found inside the vehicle and those items were transported to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) crime lab for analyses."
According to Sgt. Ron Priest, charges are pending against both subjects, pending results from the crime lab.
"At a minimum, it will be possession of drugs," Priest said.
The drug abuse instruments, according to Priest, were syringes, and additional charges may result once it is determined what substance was inside the syringes.
The Highland County Press is not naming the two subjects pending filing of the charges by the HPD.
