GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man is jailed on a $500,000 bond today after being charged with a first-degree felony of aggravated arson.

William B. (Billy) Wisecup Jr., 39, of 125 North 8th St., Greenfield was taken into custody after a fire was reported at that residence at 2:06 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6.

According to Greenfield Police Department Chief Tim Hester, upon the arrival of Greenfield police and firefighters, Mildred Wisecup, 80, also of 125 North 8th St., was found on the front porch with "injuries consistent with an assault."

The inside of the house was on fire when firefighters arrived, Hester said. "It appeared to have been intentionally set," the chief said.

William B. (Billy) Wisecup Jr. is currently in the Highland County Justice Center under the bond set by Judge Robert Judkins.

Mrs. Wisecup was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center with serious physical injuries.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office and Ohio BCI are assisting in the investigation.

Additional charges are possible, Hester said.[[In-content Ad]]
