On Friday, October 3, 2009, officers of the Hillsboro Police Department,assisted by deputies from the Highland County Sheriff's Office, responded with the Hillsboro Fire and Rescue to the parking lot at the Highland Plaza Shopping Center where there were two subjects reported to be in a serious medical condition. Upon arrival, it was determined that two subjects had suffered a drug overdose while a third subject fled the scene. The two overdose victims were identified as Joshua W. Keets, 28, of Hillsboro, as well as his wife, Shaunna L. Keets, 26, also of Hillsboro. Both subjects were treated and transported by the Hillsboro Life Squad to the Highland District Hospital. Both subjects declined hospital treatment and were subsequently arrested for possession of a drug instrument and a bench warrant from Hillsboro Municipal Court for a probation violation. The subject who left the scene was identified as Ronald W. Murphy II, 22, of Wilmington, Ohio. He was subsequently also charged with possession of a drug instrument. Evidence was collected at the scene of the incident and from the subjects involved that will be later sent for analysis at the state crime lab. Further chargers may be filed at a later time pending further investigation. All subjects were incarcerated in Highland County Justice Center pending arraignment in Hillsboro Municipal Court scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2009.[[In-content Ad]]
