Gov. John Kasich has announced the reappointment of Doug Boedeker to the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees. Boedeker, of Washington Court House, was selected to serve a second six-year term, ending May 11, 2022.

“We are so pleased with Doug’s reappointment,” said Mike Pell, Chair of the SSCC Board of Trustees. “His leadership helps students, faculty, and staff of Southern State. I look forward to working with Doug to serve all our communities.”

A 1975 graduate of The Ohio State University’s allied medicine program, Mr. Boedeker currently serves as Fayette County Memorial Hospital’s Director of Cardiopulmonary and Director of Safety. Beginning in 2005, he collaborated with SSCC faculty and administration to create the college’s Respiratory Care associate degree program.

During Mr. Boedeker’s first appointment on the board, he served a two-year term as chair, and was an active participant in the Long-Range Planning & Facilities Committee which had a significant role in the design and project implementation of Southern State’s new campus in Mt. Orab.

Demonstrating an active willingness to learn about the role board members can take in promoting greater student success, Mr. Boedeker has attended numerous conferences, including the Association of Community College Trustees Leadership Congress, the Ohio Board of Regents Annual Trustee Conference and the Ohio Association of Community Colleges governing board meetings.

The remaining trustee positions are filled by Chair Mike Pell (Adams County), Vice Chair Brian De Bruin (Fayette County), Paul Hall (Brown County), Bob McEwen (Highland County), Brian Prickett (Clinton County) and Kyle Rudduck (Clinton County).

Two board vacancies remain following the completion of terms by Michelle Cimis (Highland County) and Donald Moore (Fayette County).

Chosen by Ohio’s governors, the nine trustees who comprise the SSCC Board of Trustees establish policy; select, hire and evaluate the president; review and act on financial matters; and establish schedules of institution-wide fees and tuition.
