Batavia OSHP Post investigating two-vehicle multiple fatality crash
Goshen – The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a multiple fatality crash involving two vehicles on SR 28 at Edenton Pleasant Plain Road, Goshen Township, Clermont County at approximately 1:43 a.m. Oct. 6.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Chrysler 300, operated by Mathew Penny, 25, of Cincinnati, was traveling northeast on state Route 28. A 2007 Subaru Legacy, operated by Dustin McDole, 43, of Goshen, was traveling northwest on Edenton Pleasant Plain Road.
The investigation shows that Penny struck McDole’s vehicle as it was attempting to cross state Route 28. Both vehicles traveled off the north side of the roadway into a ditch and an embankment.
Penny was pronounced deceased on scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
McDole was pronounced deceased on scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
Three additional occupants were in Penny’s vehicle. Chloe Love, 19, of Loveland, and Dezmen Jernigan, 18, of Goshen, were both pronounced deceased on scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office. Ayden Taylor, 18, of Milford, was transported to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
One additional occupant was in McDole’s vehicle. Andrea Iery, 42, of Pleasant Plain, was pronounced deceased on scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
Both McDole and Iery were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Assisting agencies on scene were the Goshen Police Department, Goshen Twp. Fire & EMS, Warren County EMS, Loveland/Symmes Twp. EMS, and the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
