Batavia OSHP Post investigating four-vehicle fatal traffic crash

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP – The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash involving four vehicles. The crash occurred on October 30 at approximately 6:18 p.m. on state Route 32, near milepost 5, in Batavia Township, Clermont County. 

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2004 Ford Ranger, operated by Scott Temple, 63, Batavia, was traveling westbound on state Route 32 when it traveled off of the left side of the roadway, crossed the median, and entered the eastbound lanes of travel. The Ranger was then struck by a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Matthew Music, 28, Van Lear, Ky., as it was traveling eastbound on state Route 32. 

The Silverado then struck a 2014 Honda Odyssey, operated by Caitlin Moorhead, 34, Williamsburg, as it was traveling eastbound on State Route 32. Shortly after coming to rest, the Silverado was then struck by a 2000 Honda Accord, operated by Anthony Burns, 25, Batavia, as it was traveling eastbound on state Route 32. 

Mr. Temple sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Mr. Music and his passenger, Gregory Music, 63, Auxier, KY, both sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Mr. Burns also sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The injured parties were all transported to a local hospital. Ms. Moorhead sustained no injuries. All vehicle occupants are believed to have been wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted with this incident by the Central Joint Fire-EMS District (CJFED), Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Tarvin’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
