Ayres completes basic Air Force training

Air Force Reserve Airman First Class Marissa K. Ayres graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Ayres earned distinction as an honor graduate.

She is the daughter of Pamela D. Banks of Lynchburg and Philip R. Ayres of Hillsboro, stepdaughter of Tracey Bennington of Hillsboro and granddaughter of John Etienne of Sardinia and Toy Fender of Hillsboro.

She is a 2012 graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High School. She earned an associate's degree in 2014 from Southern State Community College.
