Armed Forces Week in Highland County May 11-18

The Highland County Board of Commissioners proclaimed May 11-18 as Armed Forces Week in Highland County during the Wednesday, May 7 board meeting.

Commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer signed a joint proclamation for the Highland County Veterans Service Commission and Support Our Troops of Highland County.

Stephanie Roland, who is with both the VSC and SOTOHC, thanked commissioners for the proclamation and encouraged the community to recognize and thanks all of Highland County's veterans.

"It's an honor to be here and recognize our veterans." Roland said. "We appreciate your time and invite you to the Armed Forces Day Open House on May 16," she told the commissioners.

Highland County VSC Board member Joe W. Thompson also expressed appreciation to the commissioners as well as the Veterans Service Commission, in particular President Ray Alexander and Brian Fox from the local VSC office.

The Highland County Veterans Service Commission will hold the third annual Armed Forces Day Open House on Friday, May 16 from 5-8 p.m. in the Hi-TEC building conference rooms. The Chillicothe V.A., Cincinnati Vet Center and the Georgetown Veterans Home, along with local veterans organizations, will be in attendance.
