On a sunny Saturday, 20 teams took part in the third annual Highland District Hospital Foundation golf outing held at the Elks golf course in Hillsboro.

Proceeds from the annual outing will go to support the purchase of a 4D ultrasound unit at the hospital.

“We had a good turnout and the weather was great today,” said HDH Foundation Director Cathy Jones. “We had wonderful support with sponsors, and from dedicated volunteers from the Highland District staff and from foundation board members.”

Foundation Board of Directors President Vicki Rhude welcomed the golfers in the morning and afternoon rounds, and at the end of the day, the First Financial Bank team of Tim Priest, Chris Fauber, Nathan Boatman and Shane Wilken took first overall with an 18-hole score of 57, finishing one stroke ahead of the teams fielded by Fifth Third Bank and First State Bank.

Wayne Bowman, Todd Simmons, Josh Newkirk and Anthony Zink hit the links for the Fifth Third Bank team, and the First State Bank team consisted of Chad Wilson, Mike Cheesbro, Doug Henry and Lance Lukas.

“As always, we had a lot of fun today,” Jones said.

Also during the day, Angie McNeilan Bennett won an award for the longest drive, Skye Lucas won an award for longest putt for the ladies, Fauber won for longest drive, and Robert Hunt won for longest putt for the men.

The foundation will also have a 5K run/walk in the Rocky Fork State Park area in September and will hold its 2014 Holiday Ball in December.
