Adams County Chief Deputy Jeff McCarty faces rape charge

Adams County Chief Deputy Jeff McCarty has been arrested on allegations of rape, according to news reports.

An Adams County official confirmed McCarty was in custody for the alleged rape of a minor.

Adams County Sheriff Kimmy Rogers contacted Adams County Prosecutor David Kelley's office and requested an independent investigation into the allegations, WLWT News reports at http://www.wlwt.com/news/adams-county-sheriff-chief-deputy-arrested-accused-of-rape-of-a-minor/31287634.

McCarty, 46, was on administrative leave.

He had been with the Adams County Sheriff's Office since 1989 and was promoted to the position of chief deputy in 2009.

McCarty's arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday on the first-degree felony.
