3 helicopters transport injured from 124 crash
Three people were transported by helicopter to two regional hospitals Saturday following a two-vehicle crash on state Route 124 at the intersection of Welcome Road.
According to Capt. Jeff Martin of Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, "a car went through the intersection, failing to stop and collided with a pickup truck."
Martin said that three emergency helicopters responded to the scene to transport three people. One person was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, while two people were transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Their conditions were not immediately available.
"Both vehicles were in a field approximately 100 feet from the intersection," Martin said.
The driver of the car had to be removed from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life, and sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to Martin. The driver was transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital by the Clinton-Highland Joint Fire District in New Vienna.
The Lynchburg Fire and Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
