20th annual Firefighters Association Safety Day June 12 at Kroger

The Highland County Firefighters Association is pleased to announce that the 20th annual Public Safety Day will be held this Sunday, June 12 from noon-2:30 p.m. at the Hillsboro Kroger on Harry Sauner Road in Hillsboro.
The event is free and open to the public and will feature Fire, Life Squad, Law Enforcement, other public safety vehicles, along with medical helicopters from MedFlight, and Miami Valley Careflight (weather and emergencies could cancel their participation).
Along with the Highland County Fire Departments and Life Squads, other agencies participating include: Ohio State Highway Patrol, Leesburg PD, Ohio State Parks, Highland County Dog Pound, Buckeye Ambulance, and Hillsboro City Schools.
All day activities include: Child Safety house, child fingerprinting, safety handouts, children being able to spray fire hoses, display of fire EMS Police and public safety vehicles along with displays of pictures from area department activities.
Additionally, the following demonstrations will be conducted:
• Live burn demonstrations at 12:15 and 12:45;
• Auto Extrication demonstration at 1:15; and,
• Hillsboro Police K-9 demonstration at 2:10.
Concessions will be available (freewill donation) with proceeds going to the firefighters association to be used to purchase a power point projector and recording equipment for their training programs.
Highland County Firefighters Association Training and events chairman Scott Miller says the association is looking forward to hosting this 20th annual event for the community, and says it has only been cancelled one time due to weather.
He would like to thank Kroger for sponsoring the event and providing their facilities for the past 17 years.
Association President Jeremy Cannon stated that the association is celebrating 35 years of service to area departments.
Along with public service events, the association provides free fire and EMS training opportunities to all member agencies, which include: Paint Creek, Highland North, Lynchburg, Southern Highland, Brush Creek Fire, Marshall Fire, Bainbridge, Brush Creek Life Squad, Fayetteville, Clinton-Highland, Peebles, and the Highland County Sherriff’s office.
