After a few days of preliminary setup and unpacking, the first day of the 2010 Highland County Fair kicked off Saturday, with the crowning of the Junior Fair Queen.

Tiffany Satterfield, of Hillsboro, was named the 2010 Junior Fair Queen, with runners up Lisa Rhonemus, Daisy Christophel and Kellly Mustard.

Saturday was a busy day for many 4-Hers, as they brought in and unloaded their projects, such as the goats, horses and rabbits. Booth displays for the individual 4-H groups also had to be completed by Saturday evening.

Livestock is scheduled to arrive Sunday.

Several judging competitions were held Saturday, including the style revue and other consumer science projects, and skillathon and outstanding market exhibitor for swine and rabbits.

Sunday fairgoers can see the rodeo and the horse skillathon, as well as judging for junior fair crops and vegetables, the poultry exhibition and the feeder calf show.
