Mustangs win SHAC game against North Adams
Winning by a 9-5 score, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs added a Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory to their record by defeating the North Adams Green Devils on Monday at LCHS.
In their 10-hit performance, the Mustangs (2-6) led 2-1 after the first inning, and the score was tied 4-4 after two innings with NAHS scoring three runs and LCHS scoring two runs.
The Mustangs scored two runs in bottom of the fourth, then added two runs in the fifth inning for an 8-4 lead. LC increased their lead to five runs with a run in the sixth, and NAHS scored a run in the top of the seventh.
The Mustangs finished with 10 hits and committed four errors, while NAHS had four hits and committed four errors.
Josiah Burns was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, a double and a triple. Braedon West went 1-for-3 with one RBI, a walk and a steal. Cole Wells finished 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and a double.
Luke Smith finished 1-for-4, scoring a run, while adding an RBI and a double. Christian Flowers scored a run and drew a walk. Austin Bell recorded a walk, and Cody Bell was 2-for-4 with a run and three steals. Asher Faust finished 1-for-1 with two runs and two walks.
Isaac Eyre pitched four innings for LCHS, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and six walks, while collecting five strikeouts on 82 pitches (41 strikes) all while facing 21 batters.
Flowers pitched three innings, allowing one unearned run on no hits and one walk. He finished with six strikeouts, throwing 46 pitches, 26 strikes, facing 12 batters.
The win moves LCHS to 2-6 overall, 1-4 in the SHAC.
