Medical Mobile Unit coming to Jackson County
The Chillicothe VA Medical Center is partnering with the city of Wellston to bring VA services closer to the veterans who need them. Starting in October, the Medical Mobile Unit (MMU) will be stationed at The Depot (South Railroad Avenue), every Monday, and open for business.
The Mobile Unit allows us to deliver important services closer to the communities where veterans live, reducing commute time and providing improved access to care. Staffed by a highly skilled Primary Care PACT Team, the Mobile Unit is committed to providing exceptional care options, including enrollment, primary care, routine labs and vaccines.
Associate Director of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center, Dr. Robert Taylor, details the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our rural veterans face a number of challenges, not the least of which is transportation. Placing the Chillicothe VAMC Medical Mobile Unit in Wellston reflects our continued commitment to providing veterans with high-quality and convenient services.”
The grand opening for this new initiative will be held Monday, Oct. 2 at the Railroad Depot. The ceremony kicks off at 10 a.m. and will boast remarks from guest speakers, Mayor Anthony Brenner, and various members of the Executive Leadership Team from the Chillicothe VA Medical Center. Refreshments will be provided by the Chillicothe VA Canteen, and the Mobile Unit will be open immediately following the ceremony.
