Lynchburg-Clay ties with Fayetteville, North Adams for boys soccer SHAC championship

There is a three-way tie for the 2023 boys soccer Southern Hills Athletic Conference championship, with the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs, Fayetteville Rockets and North Adams Green Devils all sharing in the championship.
All three SHAC teams finished with a 6-1-0 conference record for ‘23, as the Mustangs won their final conference game on Friday (Oct. 13) with a 5-0 win over the West Union Dragons at WHS.
On Friday for LCHS, goals were scored by junior JJ Massey with two, and with one goal each were junior Austin Bell, junior Asher Faust and freshman Sam Turner.
At goal for the Mustangs was junior Isaac Eyre with six saves, as his season total sits at 115 saves.
The regular-season leader in goals scored for LCHS is Massey with seven, followed by Bell with six and Josiah Burns with five. As a team, LCHS has scored 41 goals and have allowed 18 goals this season.
In SHAC games this year, the Mustangs won the following games: at Eastern (9-0), at Peebles (3-0), vs. North Adams (1-0), at Fairfield (4-0), vs. Ripley (11-0) and West Union (5-0). The lone SHAC loss was against Fayetteville by a 1-0 score.
For the ’23 SHAC season, LCHS outscored their opponents, 33-1.
This season the Mustangs finish the regular season at 7-7-3 overall and are scheduled to start their postseason tournament with a Division III sectional final game on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at LCHS.
