Teacher's re-assignment in question
To the editor:
If you have followed the coverage of a local teacher who was put on leave, the nightmare for him and his family started on Nov. 9, 2011 and came to a supposed end on May 16, 2012.
That wasn't the case. He was banished from the hallowed halls of the middle school and high school, taken from a job where he has done very well for the past 30-plus years.
He has been re-assigned, but not reinstated, to his former position at the school.
The school board has hired another health and physical education teacher as of July 18, 2012.
This is a waste of taxpayers' money when you have a person already capable of this job.
He was sent to FRS in Hillsboro to start a gym class. To me, this was punishment for being innocent. They just had to put a question mark on this man's service to our school district.
This is the solution that was decided after a very long investigation.
This man stood up for himself to make it better for students, parents, and fellow teachers. He didn't cave in to our administration's demands.
I would like to thank all the people, family, friends and the board members who stood up for my brother.
He still should have been reinstated to his previous position in our school system.
He stood up for his rights as an American. He had courage. Courage is what America stands for. He didn't cave in to our superintendent's demands.
May God bless each and every one of us.
Sincerely,
Ricky D. Burns
