Romney only cares about the very wealthy

To the editor:

Mitt Romney currently owns $8 million worth of Bain funds which includes 51 percent of a company called Sensata.

Sensata is being forced by Bain to close a plant in Freeport, Ill. and move it to China.

“The company recently made factory officials take down the American flag when they were forced to train their Chinese replacement workers," according to Tom Gaulrapp, with the United Steelworkers Union.

"This is taking place as Mitt Romney tries to convince people to believe that he doesn’t know about Bain's shipping American jobs overseas. Romney is trying to place distance between himself and Bain Capital, a pioneer of outsourcing where Romney made a fortune as CEO.”

If this was taking in a company that President Obama owned stock in, conservatives would have gone ballistic. To those of you who support Romney, I say: How can you support this man who only wants the power of the presidency and cares only about the very wealthy?

Romney also says no one dies from lack of healthcare. However, a recent Harvard Medical School shows that 45,000 Americans die each year from lack of healthcare because they go to the emergency room when it is too late. Then those of us who have health insurance have to pay more to cover the uninsured.

Lastly, Republicans are constantly saying the government should stay out of the way of businesses.

“Odd then, that the two most successful large economies in the world both feature governments who play a substantial role their country’s economy. China – which has been growing faster for longer than anyone, has a planned economy. And when the Great Recession struck in 2008, they instituted a huge stimulus program conceived and funded by the government," John Atcheson writes at www.commondreams.org.

"Germany, through it’s Fraunhofer Society, uses government seed money to direct vast investments in applied research – research that has enabled Germany to have a high-wage manufacturing sector that competes with developing nations relying on cheap labor. Odder still that the three times the U.S. tried the laissez-faire policies espoused by the big gubmint’ haters we got the three biggest economic collapses in our history.”

Wake up voters. Vote for President Obama and Sherrod Brown.

Sincerely,
