To the editor:

Ohio House Bill 117 must be stopped in its tracks – not amended.

It would allow a wholesale shifting of territory among school districts.

It provides that a petition signed by 10 percent of the electors in a carved-out section of a school district could be transferred upon a majority of the electors in the defined area.

It has an emergency clause – “necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety.” Wow.
